The 20-Minute Workout Before School Drop-Off
No gym, no equipment, no excuses.
By CC Rae · 3 min read
Some mornings the only time I have is the twenty minutes before everyone else wakes up. Here’s a simple routine that needs nothing but a little floor space. Always listen to your body, and check with your doctor before starting a new exercise routine.
Warm up (3 minutes)
- Marching in place, arm circles and gentle torso twists.
The circuit (3 rounds, about 5 minutes each)
Do each move for 40 seconds, then rest for 20 seconds.
- Bodyweight squats
- Push-ups (on your knees or against the counter works too)
- Reverse lunges, alternating legs
- Plank
- Glute bridges
Cool down (2 minutes)
- Hamstring stretch, child’s pose and a few deep breaths.
“Twenty minutes. Every morning. It adds up.”
Then a big glass of water and on with the day. Consistency beats intensity: twenty minutes most days will do more for you than one hard workout a month.
